Marlena Steiner was born on September 3rd, 1989 in northern New Jersey. She began web designing in eighth grade and taught herself to code in HTML and CSS in order to create an informative website about her favorite cartoons. By her freshman year of high school, Marlena broadened her knowledge to PHP, Javascript, various programming languages, and graphic design. She became more interested in designing rather than coding, however, her passion for maintaining a website still lived on.
In 2005, Marlena began a freelance design business. She put her self-taught knowledge to use and learned the ways of a business by doing so. By her Junior year of high school, she became highly interested in film and video. She assisted her boyfriend in producing his films under the name
Vestige Productions. While applying to colleges senior year, Marlena realized that film was her main passion. However, she received a generous scholarship from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA to study Multimedia and Narrative Video. After a year of multimedia, Marlena realized that there is no substitution for film. In the Summer of 2008, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she currently attends Loyola Marymount University. During her remaining years of college, she will continue to advance toward her dream: to become a respected and talented director of photography.
Marlena creates all of her projects on a MacBook Pro computer. For her projects, Marlena uses Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe After Effects CS3, Adobe Fireworks CS3, Bridge CS3, Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Fetch, TextEdit, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Quicktime.
Marlena loves taking long walks on the beach, watching sitcoms and movies, playing silly and childish games, and hanging out with her boyfriend and friends. She's a crazy sports fan and absolutely adores the tennis legend, Roger Federer. Other interests include gymnastics (she was a competitive gymnast for 7 years!), languages and cultures, music, psychology, multimedia, reading, browsing the internet, dancing, writing, designing, creating, decorating, photography.
Marlena's favorite films are
Brokeback Mountain (2005), Lust, Caution (2007), Across the Universe (2007), Magnolia (1999), and A Beautiful Mind (2001). Her favorite designers are Kyle Cooper (Prologue) and MK12.
